About the Center

The Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics invites distinguished scholars and advocates to the University of Oregon to carry on the tradition of Wayne Morse. Due to a generous gift from Ed Conklin, a former colleague of Morse, the university expanded the activities of the Morse Chair Professor by creating the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics.

The Center is proud to announce that the theme of inquiry for
2007-09 will be Democracy and Citizenship in the 21st Century.
This theme will explore aspects
of the changing conception of citizenship and the democratic process in the United States and other countries, including the debate over citizenship, the mechanisms of democracy, citizen engagement, and the law of democracy.
